Each journey of creating a family is unique. Therapy can provide education, support, and coping skills as individuals and couples manage the process in a safe and empathic environment. Your Hopeful Pathways counsellor will walk with you along each step of your journey.
Couples Counselling
Hopeful Pathways Counselling specializes in couples counselling and can support you and your partner in achieving a healthy and happy relationship. Relationship services include but are not limited to: healthy communication skill building, parenting together, re-establishing trust after an extra-marital affair, intimate relationship and sex therapy, as well as pre-marital counselling, and supporting couples to consciously un-couple, separate, or divorce amicably.
Pregnancy and Infant Loss
Hopeful Pathways Counselling is a specialist in working with families who have had the tragic experience of losing a wanted pregnancy, experiencing a stillbirth, facing a fatal diagnosis, or losing a child. We can help you learn to cope in the face of loss and provide a safe space to explore what it means to you to have lost your baby.
Reproductive Mental Health
Hopeful Pathways Counselling is a service dedicated to helping families navigate the emotional and psycho-social pathways of reproductive challenges, such as infertility/fertility concerns, as well as those who are considering starting a family through adoption or with third party assistance (sperm/egg/embryo donation and surrogacy).
Counsellors also work with grief associated with infertility, unmet expectations, and giving up the idea of a ‘traditional’ family.
Perinatal Mental Health
Regardless of whether having a baby was a long journey or a happy accident, women may experience some unwanted thoughts and feelings in the perinatal period. Within the perinatal period, women may experience fear about labour, delivery and birth, as well as becoming a parent. Once baby is born, women may face the ‘baby blues’, postpartum depression and/or anxiety, the often fearful experience of postpartum rage, or even a sense of numbness or longing for the childfree life that is no longer. Your Hopeful Pathways counsellor can support you through the challenges of the postpartum period.
