The Counselling Process
Counselling involves a degree of risk, usually in the form of feelings that may increase in discomfort or intensity for a temporary period of time. Sometimes counselling involves recalling unpleasant aspects of your history. You are in charge of your counselling sessions and will always make the decision as to whether you want to discuss or work through any issues that arise.
Insurance
Payment is due at the time of session and email receipts will be provided once payment has been received. I am both a Canadian Certified Counsellor and a Registered Clinical Counsellor. I encourage all clients to double-check with their insurance provider, if they have one, to ensure that they have coverage for these designations.
Payment
I currently accept cash, credit card, or e-transfer payment. E-transfers must be made in advance of your session. If you are having an in-person session and would like to pay by cash, please make sure you have correct change as cash is not kept on the premises.
Confidentiality
Confidentiality is a key to an effective counselling process and, as such, personal information shared in counselling will be kept confidential. There are, however some exceptions to this:
a) if a child is or may be at risk of abuse, neglect, or in need of protection
b) if you or another person is at clear risk of imminent harm
c) for the purpose of complying with a legal order, such as a subpoena, or if the disclosure is otherwise required or authorized by law
Online Session Considerations
If you will be engaging in online sessions, please plan to have your session in a location that ensures your confidentiality and privacy.
Session Times
Sessions are designated for certain times. Please be aware that the entire time booked is available to you, should you be delayed or need to arrive late; however, session time for late arrivals cannot be extended due to scheduling.
Cancellation Policy
In order to open your session time to waiting clients, please allow 48 hours notice is required for changes and cancellations. Full payment is required with less than 48 hours notice.
